Description

CONTEXT

The invention relates to the improvement of the signal treatment obtained during an Eddy current non destructive test. It was more precisely designed for the magneto optic imager design at the SATIE laboratory which has already been patented.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION

This eddy current imaging procedure consists of the following steps:

– Located near a large inspection zone of a surface magnetic field measuring device, generating a comprehensive excitatory magnetic field on the observation inspection zone,

– Measure at the surface a resulting magnetic field in the form of images,

– Process the images,

– The generating phase consists of generating at least two forms of excitatory magnetic field waves. The measuring phase consists of measuring all the magnetic field configurations resulting in the form of images. The image combination treatments phase helps to detect defects and to determine their location and their type.

BENEFITS

The method enables automatic and efficient detection, localization and characterization of the defects in the complex structures in an easy manner.

INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS

It can be used in aeronautics and nuclear field for imaging an eddy current and for detecting, characterizing and localizing a defect such as a fissure engaged in a complex structure or a riveted structure of an aircraft panel.
