Organophosphorous compounds

Patents status

French patent application FR0209528 filed on July 26th, 2002 entitled “Composés organophosphorés à pont polysulfure”

Pierre-Hubert MUTIN

commercial status

Laboratoire de Chimie Moléculaire et Organisation du Solide a CNRS laboratory (UMR 5637) in Montpellier, France.

The invention describes new organophosphorous compounds with a polysulphide bridge, their process of preparation, and their use as coupling agents between mineral or metallic loads and an elastomer.
These coupling agents are designed to improve mechanical properties of reinforced elastomers. This improvement is due to a better adhesion between the load and the elastomer.
Their stability against hydrolysis makes them simpler to stock and to implement.

These new coupling agents can be used with new kinds of loads in the domain of composites with elastomer matrix. Indeed, the phosphonate ends bind strongly with carbonate, hydroxide, oxide, and metal surfaces.
