Description

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION

This invention describes the fabrication of highly crystalline (up to 80% of crystallinity) polyaniline films with a strong p-p stacking alignment parallel to the film surface (parameter of uniplanar orientation is equal to 0.74). These films are obtained directly after the original synthesis procedure. An appropriate combination of strongly and weakly hydrated anions in the reaction medium allows regular intercalation of low-molecular “structuring” agents such as Cl ions and water molecules in-between the growing PANI chains.
This technology also allows to obtain powder-like polyaniline which is more miscible with organic liquids and polymers compared to obtained up to now.
The industrial process is also easy to perform and environmentally friendly. 

INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS

Unprecedented high ordering and orientation in polyaniline films could allow their applications in “plastic electronics” which can be considered as the main domain of application of this invention. This innovation could be used  also for the preparation of powder-like polyaniline characterized by high miscibility with conventional polymers in order to enhance their electrical conductivity.
