Description

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION

This invention describes new, extremely stable, crystallisable oil emulsions in an aqueous solution. Stability has been checked for several months for a volumic fraction of the lipidic phase ranging between 0.01% and 50%. This invention also describes the process to develop these compositions.

These emulsions are suspensions of microscopic sized oil drops (between approximately 1 µm and 500 µm). The size of the drops are homogeneous and the polydispersity is less than 40%. The stability and homogenous size are possible by the use of solid colloidal particles as stabilizing agents in the presence or absence of weak concentrations of molecular surfactants (less than CMC/20 where CMC means critical micellar concentrations). These solid colloidal particles are safe for the environment.

Moreover the adhesion properties on a substrate of these emulsions are improved compared to emulsions obtained with currently used molecular surfactants.

INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS

The excellent stability of these compositions is interesting for various sectors such as the cosmetics industry (hydrating creams, ointments…), the food processing industry (gravy, vinegar gravy…), and the pharmaceutical industry. This invention could also be used in the painting industry, for adhesives, coatings, synthetic asphalts and cooling liquids.
